Dan, is there anyway to get the resulting OPML into the OPML Editor as a reading list? it doesn’t seem to export into an appropriate format, and I’m not sure what to do aobut it. I’d be happy to read something if you want to point me in the right direction.
Dean, just save the resulting file from within your browser to something like “xbel.opml” and open that with the OPML Editor.
I can’t get the bookmark synchronizer to work. Either at home or at work. I popluate the fields for FTP, try and select a folder and nothing happens. So I used a different service – http://www.linkagogo.com/go/Convert my bookmarks.html to xbel – you can see the resulting xbel at http://hosting.opml.org/deanmck/bookmarks.xbel – when I run that through your utility, it produces http://hosting.opml.org/deanmck/bookmarks.opml which just appears to open in a blank outline in the OPML editor. Not sure where the error is occuring.
There seem to be invalid characters. Probably your javascript bookmarklets are not entity-encoded. I’ll see if I can confirm that and address it if it’s an issue. Thanks for the feedback, Dean.
Dean, I ran your XBEL through my script and got this. Notice that it opens just fine in the OPML Editor and my OPML Browser just fine. Did you hand edit your OPML or something? Because when I run http://hosting.opml.org/deanmck/bookmarks.opml through my OPML Browser I get all sorts of errors.
I don’t think so, however I may have in an effort to troubleshoot, and not remember what I did. Not sure what I did at this point. Now I just want to figure out how to import my bookmarks.opml into the newsRiver subscriptions.
Dan…
Just converted my Firefox bookmarks to xbel to run through your converter and I got this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: domxml_open_mem() in /home/danmac/public_html/public/xbel2opml.php on line 7
Hope the problem can be fixed. Thanks…..

Thanks, Ken. I changed web hosting companies, and that involved moving from PHP 4 to PHP 5, so a lot of my “quick and dirty” scripts broke as a result.
This one is now working again.
